TABLE TALKS
Artist Residence @ London Cafés
Embroidery, stitching, and crochet have often been classified as ‘craft’ in contrast to ‘fine art,’ a categorisation steeped in gender bias and marginalisation by scholars and the art market. This distinction is significant, as it reflects a historical undervaluation of these mediums within the hierarchies of Western art history.
As an artist, I utilize repurposed tablecloths to foster open dialogues where embroidery, stitches, and threads serve as a "language" of connection. My practice primarily involves solitary monologues, approached in a near meditative state. Occasionally, I invite other artists to join me in collaborative sessions, often held in London cafes.
